Overview
Since 2022, I’ve hosted and produced The Smart Economy Podcast, a long-form interview series featuring entrepreneurs, developers, and industry leaders building blockchain technology.
What began as an audio-first podcast has evolved into a multimedia content operation spanning video interviews, short-form clips, written articles, and social media.
My responsibilities include identifying and securing guests, researching interview topics, hosting conversations, directing editorial decisions, and overseeing the production and distribution workflow.
The Challenge
Producing a thoughtful, hour-long interview is only half the battle. Getting people to discover and engage with that conversation is an entirely different challenge.
For years, we prioritized audio and assumed compelling conversations with knowledgeable guests would be enough to attract listeners.
But even great interviews have limited reach without an effective distribution strategy.
We needed to make our content more discoverable, adapt it to different platforms, and give audiences more opportunities to engage with the ideas discussed.
My Approach
Transitioning to video: When our production team proposed moving beyond audio-only episodes, I championed the transition and helped incorporate video into our production workflow.
Building a repurposing strategy: I helped develop a process for identifying compelling moments from long-form interviews. I personally select clips, direct their production, and coordinate their distribution across our social channels.
Creating platform-specific content: Rather than treating every platform identically, we developed a publishing approach incorporating interview teasers, native articles, short-form videos, and social posts.
Using performance data: I analyze content performance to identify which formats resonate with audiences and inform future editorial decisions.
The objective is to extend the value of each interview while preserving the substance that makes the original conversation worthwhile.
The Results
Since launching The Smart Economy Podcast, we’ve produced more than 120 long-form episodes and expanded into a multimedia publishing operation.
During the 12 months ending September 2026:
- 249,691 X impressions generated through the podcast’s dedicated account.
- 31,800 YouTube views across the shared Smart Economy Network channel.
- 127 organic LinkedIn posts generating approximately 19,000 impressions and 846 clicks.
- 25% LinkedIn follower growth, adding 85 followers over the reporting period.
Our LinkedIn content audit revealed that short-form video snippets generated approximately 55% of impressions and 75% of clicks across the analyzed posts.
YouTube analytics also showed that the Shorts feed accounted for 50.8% of total channel views, demonstrating the importance of short-form content for discovery.
These findings helped reinforce our decision to incorporate video and platform-specific distribution into the podcast’s ongoing content strategy.
What This Experience Demonstrates
Building a successful content program requires more than producing high-quality material.
It means understanding how people discover content, adapting stories to different platforms, coordinating a production team, and using performance data to guide decisions.
The Smart Economy Podcast has given me firsthand experience developing and overseeing a multimedia content operation—from the initial interview to the dozens of ways its ideas can reach an audience.
